The Mountain on Paper
On a quiet day, Xiao Yu says she misses her grandmother. Xiao Ming learns that staying near someone can be a kind of answer.

Zhè yì tiān, Xiǎo Yǔ bù shuōhuà.
That day, Xiao Yu does not speak.
梅老师问：“你好吗？”
梅老師問：「你好嗎？」
Méi lǎoshī wèn: “Nǐ hǎo ma?”
Teacher Mei asks: “Are you okay?”
小雨说：“我想奶奶。”
小雨說：「我想奶奶。」
Xiǎo Yǔ shuō: “Wǒ xiǎng nǎinai.”
Xiao Yu says: “I miss Grandma.”
小明问：“奶奶在哪里？”
小明問：「奶奶在哪裡？」
Xiǎo Míng wèn: “Nǎinai zài nǎlǐ?”
Xiao Ming asks: “Where is Grandma?”
小雨给小明看一个东西，有山。

Xiǎo Yǔ gěi Xiǎo Míng kàn yí ge dōngxi, yǒu shān.
Xiao Yu shows Xiao Ming something with a mountain on it.
小雨说：“奶奶在山那边。”

Xiǎo Yǔ shuō: “Nǎinai zài shān nàbiān.”
Xiao Yu says: “Grandma is on the other side of the mountain.”
小明说：“可以给她打电话。”
小明說：「可以給她打電話。」
Xiǎo Míng shuō: “Kěyǐ gěi tā dǎ diànhuà.”
Xiao Ming says: “You can call her.”
小雨看电话，没有说话。
小雨看電話，沒有說話。
Xiǎo Yǔ kàn diànhuà, méiyǒu shuōhuà.
Xiao Yu looks at the phone and says nothing.
小明坐在她旁边。
小明坐在她旁邊。
Xiǎo Míng zuò zài tā pángbiān.
Xiao Ming sits beside her.
