The Phone at the Gate
When the day gets late and Xiao Yu is still at school, Xiao Ming helps her make one small call without taking the call away from her.
门口的电话
星期一，天晚了，小雨还在学校外边。

Xīngqīyī, tiān wǎn le, Xiǎo Yǔ hái zài xuéxiào wàibian.
On Monday, it gets late, and Xiao Yu is still outside school.
梅老师问：“你的家人来了吗？”

Méi lǎoshī wèn: “Nǐ de jiārén lái le ma?”
Teacher Mei asks: “Has your family come?”
小雨说：“没有。”
小雨說：「沒有。」
Xiǎo Yǔ shuō: “Méiyǒu.”
Xiao Yu says: “No.”
她没有电话，也没有钱。
她沒有電話，也沒有錢。
Tā méiyǒu diànhuà, yě méiyǒu qián.
She has no phone and no money.
小明问：“可以打电话吗？”
小明問：「可以打電話嗎？」
Xiǎo Míng wèn: “Kěyǐ dǎ diànhuà ma?”
Xiao Ming asks: “May we make a phone call?”
门口的叔叔给小雨电话。

Ménkǒu de shūshu gěi Xiǎo Yǔ diànhuà.
The man at the gate gives Xiao Yu a phone.
小雨给妈妈打电话：“妈妈，我在学校，来吧。”
小雨給媽媽打電話：「媽媽，我在學校，來吧。」
Xiǎo Yǔ gěi māma dǎ diànhuà: “Māma, wǒ zài xuéxiào, lái ba.”
Xiao Yu calls her mother: “Mum, I am at school. Please come.”
妈妈说：“对不起，我来。”
媽媽說：「對不起，我來。」
Māma shuō: “Duìbuqǐ, wǒ lái.”
Mum says: “I am sorry. I am coming.”
小雨很高兴，小明也很高兴。
小雨很高興，小明也很高興。
Xiǎo Yǔ hěn gāoxìng, Xiǎo Míng yě hěn gāoxìng.
Xiao Yu is very happy, and Xiao Ming is happy too.
