The Window Stays Open
Xiao Yu returns in summer and welcomes a nervous new child, proving that a small light grows brighter when it is passed on.

Xiàtiān, Xiǎo Yǔ huílái le.
In summer, Xiao Yu comes back.
窗边的红纸鸟还在。
窗邊的紅紙鳥還在。
Chuāngbiān de hóng zhǐ niǎo hái zài.
The red paper bird is still by the window.
小明说：“它还在这里。”
小明說：「它還在這裡。」
Xiǎo Míng shuō: “Tā hái zài zhèlǐ.”
Xiao Ming says: “It is still here.”
小雨说：“我也想你们。”
小雨說：「我也想你們。」
Xiǎo Yǔ shuō: “Wǒ yě xiǎng nǐmen.”
Xiao Yu says: “I missed you too.”
现在，一个新孩子在这里。
現在，一個新孩子在這裡。
Xiànzài, yí ge xīn háizi zài zhèlǐ.
Now, a new child is here.
他说：“我叫安安。”
他說：「我叫安安。」
Tā shuō: “Wǒ jiào Ān'ān.”
He says: “My name is An'an.”
小雨给他红纸鸟。
小雨給他紅紙鳥。
Xiǎo Yǔ gěi tā hóng zhǐ niǎo.
Xiao Yu gives him the red paper bird.
她说：“你好。这里有你的座位。”
她說：「你好。這裡有你的座位。」
Tā shuō: “Nǐ hǎo. Zhèlǐ yǒu nǐ de zuòwèi.”
She says: “Hello. There is a seat for you here.”
梅老师说：“你好。”小雨很高兴。

Méi lǎoshī shuō: “Nǐ hǎo.” Xiǎo Yǔ hěn gāoxìng.
Teacher Mei says: “Hello.” Xiao Yu is very happy.
小明说：“小灯还在这里。”
小明說：「小燈還在這裡。」
Xiǎo Míng shuō: “Xiǎo dēng hái zài zhèlǐ.”
Xiao Ming says: “The little light is still here.”
